We couldn’t have done it without you. We know in our hearts that it’s time to move on,” Kardashian West wrote on her app in April. We’ve been busy running our own brands, as well as being moms and balancing work with our families. “We’ve loved running DASH, but in the last few years we’ve all grown so much individually. While Kardashian West’s app offered subscribers beauty and style tips plus the occasional photo, she resisted sharing on Instagram. The last sister, Kourtney, will launch her app later this year. Khloe Kardashian App was an American Lifestyle/Photo/Video app where users got to see videos like Cooking with KoKo where she made things like Cheescake. So far, the Kardashian-Jenner empire is off to a strong start. The question will be whether enough superfans will be willing to pay for the extra content, when they can already get all the selfies they want for free on Instagram and Twitter. Most web audiences aren’t used to paying for content of any kind. “We want to hear from fans, but we want to start changing the way of social media and have it be from all positives,” Khloé said at the event. The paywall will likely keep out the trolls. With millions of followers each on social media outlets, they’re subject to lots of trolling. In a public appearance yesterday at the Apple Store in New York, the sisters explained that they hoped their apps could be a place for them to communicate and get feedback from fans that wasn’t negative. Each app is free to download but costs $3 a month to access. The question is whether all those downloads will translate to subscribers.
